Ubuntu

Ubuntu launched it’s latest 12.04, named Precise Pangolin, yesterday with some new features and lots of performance improvements. The main thing which caught my attention is the LTS (Long Term Support) release, which surely will make it favorite of a lots of people, and this means that 12.04 will be officially supported for the next 5 years. On top of that it also provides new Linux desktop for LTS users, with support of non-linux applications like Vmware, Citrix etc.

On the occasion of the launch, Kate Stewart, Ubuntu release manager wrote in an official announcement: “For PC users, Ubuntu 12.04 supports laptops, desktops, and netbooks with a unified look and feel based on an updated version of the desktop shell called ‘Unity,’ which introduces ‘Head-Up Display’ search capabilities. Finding and installing software using the Ubuntu Software Center is now easier thanks to improvements in speed, search, and usability.”

Ubuntu can be downloaded from the Ubuntu official site, though following links can also be used for the download.
